A favourite amongst families and groups of friends in search of comfortable accommodation. At Chengeta Safari Lodge we combine the best of two worlds; the excitement of nearby wildlife and the contemporary comfort of today. Situated at the foot of a dramatic granite outcrop amidst indigenous trees and a tropical garden, this well-established 17 roomed hideaway offers both wild nature and uninterrupted privacy. Found in the midst of a 7,500 acre wildlife paradise, Chengeta Safari Lodge boasts large concentrations of plains game as well as buffalo, leopard, lion and many species of birds.
Chengeta Safari Lodge, has a two-tiered thatched dining room overlooking the gardens and two swimming pools, a pool bar, trophy lounge and main bar. Evenings can be enjoyed in the bars or around the fire pit, where stories of today’s adventures and tomorrow’s conquests are usually discussed until the late hours. (Should the urge for civilisation call, a TV lounge with full DSTV selection is also available). Should you feel the need for adventure, Chengeta Safari Lodge offers a plethora of activities for both adults and children.
As the early rays of the sun turn the bush from greenish blue to orange, the first expedition leaves camp and sets off into the vast wilderness. Whether on horseback, comfortably seated in a 4×4 or on foot, the wild bush will be at arm’s length throughout your safari — and chances are you will meet quite a few of the large mammals that has made the African wilderness both famous and feared.

“Spent the weekend at Chengeta and the place the staff there were outstanding. Loved the room only problem was that there was low pressure in the shower.
The activities are so much fun. Elephant interaction and game drive were my favorite. Staff was very accommodating to my requests.” – Monica K
“We usually book at Chengeta when on business in Selous. It is the budget lodge in the same group, but from time to time we are lucky enough to be upgraded to Pamuzinda when Chengeta is full. What a delightful lodge. It has everything, from tame wildlife, beautiful river frontage, lovely pool, good restaurant and bar, and the roar of lions at night. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the food is always good. Have a brandy at the pub with large fire place in winter, or a cold Zambezi lager on the veranda next to the river in summer. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Definitely the best accommodation in the Selous area.” – Fkafrica
“I was fortunate enough to visit Pamuzinda and her sister lodge Chengeta in March. The place is absolutely beautiful, the activities really special and the staff; efficient, friendly and professional all at once. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to relax and enjoy the best of Africa.” – Jflynn70
